Faith Brewing Company was founded in 2015 by two friends, Maarten Costerus and Phillip van den berg, both of whom has a wealth of experience in the hospitality field. Emerging from a culinary background Phillip our head brewer’s philosophy around brewing is all about the craft itself, incorporating artisanal techniques into the brewing process, he also believes that one deserves only the freshest products right from the bottling or kegging line to the end product. Being a small nano craft brewery, only a certain amount of beer is released when it is ready for consumption. We do this to provide you the freshest beer possible. Our beers are not filtered neither pasteurized so hints of yeast sediment will be visible for your viewing pleasure.
Our main flagship beer is based on farmhouse style ales known as Saison. Historically, saisons did not share enough identifiable characteristics to pin them down as a specific style, but rather were a group of refreshing summer ales made by farmers. Each farm brewer would make his own distinctive version similar to what craft breweries are doing today.
As the saying goes “faith is taking the first step even if you don’t see the whole staircase”. Being a nano brewery, and one of South Africas smallest licensed breweries, Believing and having Faith in our craft has been at the core of our operation. Why the name Faith Brewing you might ask? Well why not? . The question you have to ask yourself is do you have the faith to believe in yourself, faith in someone else, faith in humanity, just something other than what the world tells you. Having that faith in what you do and your strong belief that you could do something even if it does not seem possible, now that is the meaning of true faith.
